4. Casting Call Have students collaborate on casting current actors to play the parts of Usher, Madeline, and the narrator. Students should present their choices and explain their reasoning, drawing on story details.

5. Dear Narrator Have students write Roderick Usher's letter to the narrator—the one he sends before the story begins. Students' letters should reflect details from paragraphs 2 and 3 of the story.
