Activity: Who is Guy Montag? What did you learn about Guy Montag based on what you read? Also, what do you think Montag is motivated by at the start of the novel? Do you think his motivation will change?

Instructions for Activity

Read the quote in the box next to the character.
Then think about how the quote describes what kind of person they are.
Find other text evidence in the book that backs up what you think about the character.
Write on a post it with your partner the text evidence for at least one of the categories of indirect and direct characterization: Actions, Dialogue, Feelings and Thoughts. You need to write a post it note for each character.
Then put your post it notes on the anchor chart in the proper category listed.

Protagonist
	"Montag grinned the fierce grin of all men singed and driven back by flame"

Now describe Captain Beatty. What do you know about Beatty based on what you have read?

Repeat the steps for Beatty.

Antagonist
