Topic: Identify Your Confirmation Bias
We all experience confirmation bias from time to time; power comes to those who become aware of this bias and address it. After you complete the readings in the Confirmation Bias module, think about a time when confirmation bias may have affected your response to a particular situation or information.
Answer the following questions to complete this assignment:
- Define confirmation bias in your own words
- Explain a time in your own life when you think confirmation bias played a role in your thinking or decision-making process (in everyday or academic life)
- In the personal example you just explained, how could you have changed your approach to get new information (rather than simply reinforcing your existing ideas/beliefs)?
Grading
