Learning Standard for Today: 6.NS.B.4 Find the greatest common factor of two whole numbers less than or equal to 100 and the least common multiple of two whole numbers less than or equal to 12. Use the distributive property to express a sum of two whole numbers 1–100 with a common factor as a multiple of a sum of two whole numbers with no common factor. For example, express 36 + 8 as 4 (9 + 2).
Today we are going to be talking about factors. Please get out your math notebook and write "factors and multiples" in the table to contents. Flip to your next available page and write the notes in the picture below. Don't worry if you don't know what something means. We will discuss it in the video.
Divisibility Rules are probably something that you have heard of before. These rules help us to remember if a number is a factor of another number. You will need to know your multiplication facts very well to help you complete this week's work. If you do not, these rules can help you a little. You do not have to write these rules in your notebook, but if you feel like you would benefit from them feel free to make a page of notes. If you will especially on the rules for 2,3, and 5 it will help you determine if a number is prime or not.
Now watch the teaching video to learn how to find the GCF. Today I do not want you to use a calculator as you do your work. Just complete the problems that I ask you to work on a piece of paper. You do not have to submit that work. It is just for you to practice.

Now that you have watched the first video, you only have to watch one of the following videos. Choose which method you liked best and select that video. If you did not have a method you liked best, I would highly recommend the cake method. I think that is what most of you would prefer and we can use it later in the week to find LCM as well. I wanted people to have options though if one way confused you. Links to an external site.
