Learning Standard for Today : 6.G.A.1 Find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing into rectangles or decomposing into triangles and other
shapes; know and apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and
mathematical problems.

Today we will be finding area of complex figures. We will take odd shaped figures and cut them into shapes that we know how to find the area of. Watch the video and practice with me to learn this skill.

Independent Practice

Khan Academy is not being very user friendly today. It is being very slow to register you to the new class. Click the link and join the class with the code. Eventually the assignments tab on the top left will pop up. You do not have to complete the assignment though. I know some of you need to finish while you are working and don't have time to wait on it to adjust.

Click the link below to join our Khan Academy class. Make sure the you select the correct link for your homeroom. You only have to click on one link. Click create new account. It will have you sign in with your Google email which is your 27first.last@students.gcstn.org email address. Your password is your GC# that you use to sign on to the computer. If it asks for a code, enter the one after your class link. After you have signed up, please complete the assigned lesson (area of composite shapes). You may have to click on the assignments button on the left. I will see your score automatically so you do not have to submit anything on this page.
