Let's begin today by checking yesterday's assignment for understanding. Watch the video as I explain the independent work.

Learning Standard for Today : 6.G.A.1 Find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing into rectangles or decomposing into triangles and other
shapes; know and apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and
mathematical problems.
Today we are going to start talking about area of shapes. We will do this for the next few days. Today we will take notes in your Math notebook about area of parallelograms and triangles.
If you have access to a notebook, please use it. If not, just write on a piece of paper and put in your binder. On the first page of your notebook, write table of contents at the top. On the next page, write the notes so it matches the picture below.
Now watch this video as we complete several examples of how to find area of these shapes. Write the answers in your book or on a piece of paper. You do not have to show me this work.

triangles ws.pdf Download triangles ws.pdf
You may print the pages or just write out the work on notebook paper. Whichever is most convenient for you. Please complete both worksheets. I am still working to find the easiest way to turn in papers. Below are several options.
-Remind app (this seems to be the easiest)- take a picture of paper and send it to me. If you need to zoom in more so I can see, it is ok to send multiple pictures.
-Scan paper using the Fast Scanner app and email to melissa.mittlesteadt@gcstn.org
-Open up Submit Assignment and go to text entry and type in answers or send a video of your paper. IF you do the video, just make sure that you are in a well lit area, you hold the paper still, and you hold it close to the computer. Watch the video below to see how to do either of these options.
